Hello!
My name is Susan O'Connell.
I offer poetic companionship to people from all walks of life who seek to nurture a creative pause in their lives, or who wish to explore poetry as a path of reflection, exploration, healing, or re-engagement.
People who are curious about poetry, who wish to explore and deepen their relationship with Self or Earth, or who seek to engage with a poetic community are welcome.
I also offer poetic medicine to people walking with loss, grief, or sorrow, including those who are experiencing grief for the earth and the more than human world.
Together, we will create a sanctuary, and our poetry will become like that “kiss on the forehead” that lights a "holy lamp inside our heart."
Keeping Watch
By Hafiz
In the morning
when I began to wake,
it happened again--
That feeling
that You, Beloved,
had stood over me all night
keeping watch.
That feeling
that as soon as I began to stir
You put Your lips on my forehead
and lit a Holy Lamp
inside my heart.
